Public Policy

The Freedom and Justice Foundation (F&J) was founded in 2002 to politically empower the Texas Muslim community not simply through a special interest electoral strategy but through a sophisticated public policy reform strategy that would allow Muslims to coalition build while working for the greater benefit of society at large.  After careful consultation as well as conducting a survey of the Texas Muslim community in 2003 to study the demographics, economic picture and policy perspectives; we categorized our Public Policy Areas of Focus into five categories. In the coming weeks we intend to make our research available online to the average citizen on these Public Policy Areas of Focus. If you feel a public policy area important to you has been overlooked, please feel free to email us your suggestion at info@freeandjust.org

Public Policy Areas of Focus:

Education: Covering financing of public education from K-College, testing or standardization of curriculum, vouchers or school choice, etc.

Health: Covering Social Security for the elderly, CHIP and other state and federal programs for the young, affordable universal Healthcare for the working, Malpractice reform for physicians, etc.

Civil-Religious Liberties: Covering Civil Liberties, Civil Rights, Hate Crime Legislation, Racial Profiling, Privacy, Secret Evidence and denial of due process, Employment Discrimination, Congressional oversight, etc.

Environment: F&J conducts its environmental advocacy work through the Texas Impact network and has a representative on the Texas Interfaith and Power Executive Committee.

National Security-Foreign Policy: Relationship between intelligence agencies and law enforcement in domestic investigations, comprehensive immigration reform, DHS and FBI Community Relations efforts, economic growth and prosperity for the middle class, effective counter-terrorism strategy that protects the homeland yet safeguards civil liberties, effective Public Diplomacy, etc.  Promotion of democratic ideals via policies in keeping with traditional American values, nuclear proliferation, policy of preemption, failed-state nation building, foreign aid, etc.
