Public PolicyThe Freedom and Justice Foundation (F&J) was founded in 2002 to politically empower the Texas Muslim community not simply through a special interest electoral strategy but through a sophisticated public policy reform strategy that would allow Muslims to coalition build while working for the greater benefit of society at large. After careful consultation as well as conducting a survey of the Texas Muslim community in 2003 to study the demographics, economic picture and policy perspectives; we categorized our Public Policy Areas of Focus into five categories.
Public Policy Areas of Focus:
Education and Health Policy: F&J works in partnership with other Faith-Based partners communities through the Texas Impact network to advance Education and Health public policies that serve the needs of all Texans.
Environment: F&J conducts its environmental advocacy work through the Texas Impact network and has a representative on the Texas Interfaith and Power Executive Committee advancing environmental stewardship through market friendly incentives.
Civil-Religious Liberties: While sometimes working through national coalitions to protect civil liberties at the federal levels, F&J has mostly worked with state and federal government agencies tasked by law with a mandate to protect these freedoms in order to address civil or religious discrimination issues impacting Texas Muslims. F&J also has given numerous presentations about advancing interfaith relations domestically and oversees (see link for an example).
National and Homeland Security Policy: Coordination between intelligence agencies and law enforcement in the domestic arena, comprehensive immigration reform, DHS and FBI community partnership efforts, effective domestic counter-terrorism strategies that protect the homeland yet also safeguard our freedoms, effective counter-radicalization policies, etc. © 2002-2011 The Freedom and Justice Foundation ~ 1925 East Beltline Rd.
